What is ghost mannequin?
Ghost mannequin (or invisible mannequin) photography shows a garment holding its 3D shape with the mannequin edited out, so it looks worn by an invisible body.
Ghost mannequin photography — also called invisible-mannequin or hollow-man photography — shoots a garment on a mannequin, then edits the mannequin out so the piece appears to hold its own shape. It shows fit and structure better than a flat lay while keeping a clean, consistent look.
It still has no visible body, though, so it doesn't show shoppers how a garment looks when actually worn. Producing ghost-mannequin images also takes setup and retouching time.
With AI, a ghost-mannequin photo can be taken one step further: the hollow garment is rendered on a photorealistic model, giving you true on-body imagery without a second shoot — reusing the work you've already done.
